It is officially my favorite time of the year! Senior photo season has always held a special place in my heart since I began this wonderful journey into professional photography. There’s something really unique about senior photos that continues to surprise me. I think it has something to do with the way in which each session brings out the best in my subjects.
From football stars to student council presidents, and every single student in between, it has always been my goal to let my subject’s distinct personality shine through our photographs. When I was going through my senior year that was certainly not the case! Every single photographer had the same backdrops, the same props and would only shoot you from certain angles. Here are just a few of our favorite standard senior photo elements from the past; special thanks to all of you who submitted your senior portraits that were able to make this trip down memory lane possible!!
The Yearbook Pose
I'm not sure why looking exactly like everyone else seemed like a great idea - but these yearbook poses are probably pretty familiar to you!
The Feather Boa
Nothing says fancy like feathers, am I right?
The HAIR Photo
Who doesn't love a great hair photo? At least in these photos the senior is the star of the show!
The Number Block
For many students from my generation, there was no greater obstacle than the number block. The bane of many of my classmate’s existence, this shining representation of early-two-thousands professional photography standards had the distinct misfortune of being both incredibly uncomfortable to lean on and hiding half your body. I, for one, was happy to see this gaudy trend die off. Not a year too soon!
The Off-the-Shoulder Close-up
Are you ready for your close-up? While there is nothing visually wrong with these gorgeous girls’ close-ups, we see yet another trend of hiding their beautiful bodies!
